Battle of Sudoku: A Multiplayer Sudoku Showdown!
Love Sudoku and crave competition? Battle of Sudoku lets you pit your skills against other players or teams. The goal remains classic Sudoku: fill a 9x9 grid with digits so each column, row, and 3x3 subgrid contains all numbers from 1 to 9.
Before diving in, choose your difficulty (1-6, with 6 being the hardest) in the game options. This sets the initial numbers, providing a shared starting point for all players. Everyone receives the same puzzle.
Game Modes:
- Show Opponent's Correct Numbers: This mode displays every correctly placed number by all players. Each correct placement earns points, but you can't use a number already placed by someone else. Speed and accuracy are key!
- Hidden Correct Numbers: With this option disabled, players can't see each other's correct numbers. This allows for duplicate correct numbers, creating a different strategic challenge.
Time-Outs: Incorrect number placements result in a time-out (default 30 seconds, configurable in options). Other players can continue during your penalty.
Scoring: Correct numbers earn points, with higher difficulty levels awarding more points per correct placement. Incorrect numbers deduct points (half the value of a correct placement).
Winning: The game concludes when the puzzle is solved. The player with the most points wins. In "Hidden Correct Numbers" mode, the game ends when one player solves it, but this doesn't grant extra points; other players can still win with fewer mistakes.
Team Play: Team up! Battle of Sudoku features a team mode (teams 1 and 2). Two or more players joining the same team automatically form that team. Points are added to the team's total score, and notes/colors are shared, enabling collaborative solving strategies.
Solving Tools:
A toolbar under the puzzle provides helpful tools:
- Pen Tool: Add notes to squares using the pen icon. Clicking a square with a selected number adds that number as a note; clicking again removes it.
- Fill Mode: Change the background color of squares using the paint bucket icon.
