The Kiwanis Club of New Kingston (KCNK) proudly presents the KCNK Little Bee Spelling App, designed for young learners aged 4 to 9. Sponsored by Grace Kennedy Money Services (GKMS) and Western Union (WU), this app offers an engaging way to learn spelling through three distinct modes.
The KCNK Little Bee Game can be enjoyed offline, featuring two learning modes and a competition mode. Each mode includes 10 levels, with words increasing in length as you progress. Each level contains at least 15 words to master, and the words remain consistent across all modes.
In the Settings section, students can input their name, age, parish, and school. They can then choose from Learning Mode 1, Learning Mode 2, or Competition Mode.
Learning Mode 1:
In this mode, students learn to spell by tapping letters from left to right. The app audibly announces each letter, helping children learn by repetition. Mistakes can be corrected by tapping the incorrect letter. To hear the word again, tap the little bee icon at the top left. Students must spell each word correctly to advance and complete all words to finish a level. They can retry any level anytime, but must complete earlier levels before moving to later ones.
Learning Mode 2:
Here, students receive jumbled letters and must spell the given word correctly. Mistakes can be undone by tapping them. The little bee icon allows re-listening to the word. As with Learning Mode 1, students need to spell each word correctly to progress and complete all words to finish a level. Levels can be retried, but earlier levels must be completed first.
Competition Mode:
This mode challenges students with jumbled letters plus extra letters. They must spell the word correctly within a timed limit, with times added to their level total. Each level randomly selects 10 words from the level's pool. The goal is to complete each level as quickly as possible. The leaderboard on the main page displays the time spent on each level.
Students can reset the game from the Settings page. It's important to wait until a letter is fully announced before selecting the next. Students and parents can capture and share their leaderboard screenshots with teachers.
