Copyright Accuser's Games Targeted by Steam Review Bombing

Movie Games S.A., the studio behind The Drug Dealer Simulator series, has accused indie drug trafficking simulator Schedule I of copyright infringement. According to a Polish Press Agency report from April 3, the company completed its legal review and determined that Schedule I may have violated intellectual property rights related to The Drug Dealer Simulator. Their investigation suggests similarities in storyline, game mechanics, and user interface design.
Although no official legal action has been taken, players have quickly taken sides in the dispute. Schedule I appears to have garnered stronger support, as evidenced by recent review bombing campaigns against The Drug Dealer Simulator and its sequel on Steam. Both games now carry "Overwhelmingly Negative" and "Mostly Negative" recent review ratings respectively.

Recent critical reviews primarily focus on allegations that Movie Games S.A. is bullying an independent developer and displaying hypocrisy. Critics point out that the company previously ignored other games with similar concepts, only taking action after Schedule I's successful launch. This backlash comes despite the series previously earning recognition from both media outlets and players as among the best crime management games available.
Schedule I is a cooperative crime simulation that lets players begin as low-level drug dealers and progress to establish criminal empires. Since its Early Access launch on PC on March 25, the game has achieved "Overwhelmingly Positive" reviews on Steam. It currently ranks as Steam's second best-selling title, outperforming popular games like inZOI, Monster Hunter Wilds, and fellow indie project R.E.P.O. According to SteamDB tracking data, Schedule I reached an all-time peak of 459,075 simultaneous players at the time of writing.
Game8's assessment found Schedule I delivers a surprisingly engaging and satisfying experience, essentially functioning as a "Breaking Bad" simulator. For our complete evaluation of the Early Access version, see our detailed coverage below.
