AMD has recently unveiled the Radeon RX 9060 XT at Computex 2025, a much-anticipated follow-up to the successful RX 9070 XT released in March. However, details about this new mid-range graphics card remain scarce from Team Red.
The AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT comes equipped with 32 Compute Units and a robust 16GB of GDDR6 memory, making it an appealing option for gamers focused on 1080p gaming. Given its smaller size, it's no surprise that this GPU will have a lower power consumption compared to the RX 9070 XT, with a Total Board Power (TBP) ranging from 150-182W.
With half the Compute Units and approximately half the power draw of the RX 9070 XT, the RX 9060 XT is expected to be significantly less powerful but hopefully more budget-friendly. Unfortunately, AMD has yet to disclose any pricing or release date information for this upcoming graphics card.
The Budget Battles Have Begun
While it's frustrating that AMD hasn't revealed the cost of the Radeon RX 9060 XT, it's likely to be priced similarly to competitors like the Intel Arc B580 and the recently launched RTX 5060. These graphics cards, with power budgets of 145W and 190W respectively, debuted at around $250-$300. It's highly probable that AMD aims to target the same market segment.
When the AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT hits the market—timing still unknown—gamers looking for a graphics card in the $300 range will have three options from different manufacturers. If the RX 9060 XT remains within this price range, it could have a significant advantage: it will be the only card in its class boasting 16GB of VRAM, compared to 8GB from Nvidia and 12GB from Intel.
While I'll need to test it in the lab to assess its true performance, if the GPU matches its competitors in strength, its larger frame buffer could give it a longer lifespan as games increasingly demand more video memory. Only time will reveal the final price of the RX 9060 XT, but it might just be the budget GPU to keep an eye on right now.
