Ubisoft has unveiled an exciting roadmap for the first year of post-launch content for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, promising a range of new features and updates to keep players engaged. In a concise yet informative four-and-a-half-minute video, Ubisoft detailed its plans for 2025, focusing on free updates that will roll out throughout the year, with specific timelines for May and June.
The journey begins in early May with the release of "The Works of Luis Frois," the first of several free story add-ons. This update will be accompanied by a Codex update and various quality-of-life enhancements. Players can also look forward to significant parkour additions and a photo mode update in the following month. Ubisoft emphasizes its commitment to community feedback, ensuring that these updates reflect the desires and suggestions of the Assassin’s Creed Shadows player base.
“Your feedback has been a core focus of the team throughout development, and that’s not stopping now that Shadows is released,” stated community developer Daniel St. Germain in the video. He highlighted that regular title updates will bring impactful additions and changes, along with essential bug fixes to enhance the gaming experience across all platforms.
In June, players can expect another free story drop, along with more challenging difficulty settings, enhanced gameplay immersion options, an open-world alarm system, and the ability to toggle headgear visibility during cutscenes. These updates are just the beginning, as Ubisoft plans to introduce new game+ support, additional story content, special collaborations, and more throughout the year.
The highlight of the post-launch roadmap is the first major DLC expansion, "Claws of Awaji," set to release later in 2025. This expansion will feature new content, including the Bo staff weapon and a new region for protagonists Naoe and Yasuke to explore, offering a 10-hour journey. While pricing details are yet to be announced, those who pre-ordered Assassin’s Creed Shadows will receive this expansion for free.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows launched on March 20 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, bringing Ubisoft’s iconic stealth series to the setting of Feudal Japan.
