Bandai Namco is taking another swing at bringing the beloved Digimon franchise to mobile devices with the announcement of Digimon Alysion, a digital rendition of the Digimon Card Game. Set to launch on both Android and iOS platforms as a free-to-play game, an exact release date has yet to be disclosed.
The game's official announcement came during Digimon Con 2025, held on March 19th. The event was packed with exciting updates, including the continuation of Digimon Liberator with a new arc slated for April 2025. Bandai Namco also celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Digimon anime with a special video and unveiled a new project, Digimon Adventure: Beyond. Additionally, fans can look forward to a new RPG, Digimon Story: Time Stranger, coming to consoles and PC.
Digimon Alysion: More Than Just a Card Game
Digimon Alysion isn't merely a digital clone of the physical Digimon Card Game. It introduces a new element called 'DigiAly' cards, which are exclusive to this version, along with original cards. Bandai Namco is also set to introduce new Digimon and characters to the mix.
The game features a predominantly all-girls cast on its website, an unconventional choice for a digital card game that has stirred some skepticism among fans. Many were hoping for a more faithful adaptation of the physical game, especially given Bandai Namco's previous struggles with mobile Digimon titles. They have attempted to launch mobile games twice before without success, leading to cautious optimism about Digimon Alysion's potential.
Despite these concerns, there's still anticipation for Digimon Alysion. A closed beta test is reportedly in the works, though specifics remain undisclosed. For the latest updates, you can visit their official website or follow their X account.
