Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions are teaming up for a big-screen adaptation of the hit video game, Helldivers 2. The exciting news was revealed at CES 2025 by PlayStation Productions head, Asad Qizilbash. While specifics remain under wraps, Qizilbash confirmed the project's commencement, promising fans spectacular space battles on the silver screen.
Helldivers 2, developed by Arrowhead Studios, is a critically acclaimed shooter drawing inspiration from Starship Troopers. The game's phenomenal success is undeniable, having sold 12 million copies in just 12 weeks, becoming PlayStation Studios' fastest-selling title. The recent Illuminate update, reintroducing enemies from the original Helldivers, further fueled its popularity.
Adding to the excitement, a film adaptation of Horizon Zero Dawn is also in the works. PlayStation Studios and Columbia Pictures (the studio behind the 2022 Uncharted movie) will lead production. Qizilbash offered a sneak peek, stating, "We're in the early stages of the Horizon Zero Dawn movie, but we can guarantee a cinematic presentation of this world and its characters unlike anything seen before."
