Now, thanks to GOG's Preservation Program, this beloved title has been meticulously updated for modern PC systems and is available DRM-free on their platform.
In Breath of Fire IV, players follow the journey of Ryu, a protagonist with the unique ability to transform into a dragon. Alongside a diverse group of warriors, Ryu embarks on a quest to thwart an emperor's sinister plot to destroy the world. The narrative and gameplay have captivated fans for decades, and this revival ensures that new generations can experience the magic.

The updated version of Breath of Fire IV is optimized for contemporary systems, ensuring compatibility with Windows 10 and 11. It features both English and Japanese localizations, and the graphics have been significantly enhanced with an upgraded DirectX renderer. Players can enjoy new display options such as Windowed Mode, V-Sync, Anti-Aliasing, and refined gamma correction, which all contribute to a superior visual experience. The audio engine has also been revamped, bringing back missing environmental sounds and offering new configuration options for an immersive auditory experience.
