Capcom has subtly hinted at Resident Evil 9 in their latest celebratory video, cleverly hidden in plain sight.
To mark reaching an impressive milestone of 10 million players, the Resident Evil 4 development team released a short video on social media on April 25. The video features Ada Wong in a secretive conversation with a notorious villain, before shifting focus to Leon, surrounded by an infected crowd donning party hats as they approach the church.
The scene then transitions to a rock song with Dr. Salvador playfully strumming his chainsaw as if it were a guitar. The camera pulls back to reveal a jubilant Leon, and behind him, a rustic sign that reads "Thank you for playing."

However, when the sign is turned sideways, the planks form the Roman numeral "IX," which represents the number 9.
While this could be chalked up to mere coincidence, horror game insider Dusk Golem points out that the lower plank on the sign is absent in earlier parts of the video, suggesting its addition was deliberate. Interpret this as you wish.
"I know what you did here," said one astounded viewer, adding a wide-eyed emoji for emphasis.
Capcom has also confirmed that the upcoming mainline installment in the Resident Evil series will be helmed by Resident Evil 7 director Koshi Nakanishi."It was really challenging to decide what to do after [Resident Evil 7]," Nakanishi said at the time. "But I've found my direction, and to be honest, it feels significant. I can't share specifics just yet, but I hope you're eager for the day I can reveal more." Rumors suggest—although not officially confirmed—that the setting might be an island inspired by Singapore.
