How to collect items effectively?
The key is comprehensive collection. Don't overlook anything! Every flower, plant, animal fiber, or feather is a potential ingredient. I once needed 100 daisies and spent a considerable time gathering the last few – a testament to the importance of thorough collection.
Animal grooming is another vital aspect. Use a special grooming suit (accessible via the Tab key) to brush animals.
Select the brush icon (Tab menu) and approach the animal. For docile animals like village dogs, a right-click initiates grooming. Watch for the blue brush icon above the animal; release the right-click when it appears.

More skittish animals may require a stealthier approach. Hold the right mouse button until the blue icon appears to avoid scaring them away.
