The anticipation for Days Gone Remastered is building, and Sony's Bend Studio has recently shared exciting details about the accessibility features that will be part of this updated version. One of the standout features is the ability to adjust Game Speed, allowing players to slow down the action when the intensity ramps up. This option could be a game-changer for many players.
In a comprehensive post on the PlayStation Blog, Kevin McAllister, Bend Studio's Creative & Product Lead, detailed the various accessibility enhancements. The Game Speed feature lets players dial down the speed of gameplay from the standard 100% to 75%, 50%, or even 25%. McAllister emphasized that this feature is designed to assist players who might find high-pressure situations challenging, particularly when facing the game's iconic hordes of Freakers. With the introduction of the new Horde Assault mode in the remaster, this accessibility option aims to make the unique combat experience more inclusive.
Beyond Game Speed, Days Gone Remastered will also offer a range of other accessibility options. Players can customize subtitle colors, utilize a High Contrast Mode, benefit from UI Narration, and receive Collectible Audio Cues. Additionally, the auto-complete QTE (Quick Time Event) feature, previously exclusive to the Easy difficulty, will now be available across all difficulty settings, from Easy to Survival II.
While these features are set to enhance the experience of Days Gone Remastered on the PS5, Bend Studio has also confirmed that most of these accessibility enhancements will be making their way to the PC version of Days Gone. However, some features like feedback and customization control options will require a compatible controller.
Days Gone Remastered was officially announced back in February, promising not only these accessibility improvements but also an enhanced photo mode, permadeath and speedrun options, and more. Set in a post-apocalyptic world where you play as a biker facing zombie-like creatures, this remaster of the 2019 action-adventure game is slated for release on April 25, 2025. Fans who already own the PS4 version will have the opportunity to upgrade to the PS5 remastered version for just $10.
