Delta Force, previously known as Delta Force: Hawk Ops, is now accepting pre-registrations for its mobile release on iOS and Android. This relaunch from Level Infinite, a Tencent subsidiary, promises a blend of missions and modes, emphasizing tactical gameplay within the modern military shooter genre. The anticipated launch date is late January 2025.
While the Delta Force franchise may be unfamiliar to some, it holds a significant place in FPS gaming history, predating even Call of Duty. Known for its realistic action, diverse weaponry, and gadgets, this revival aims to capture that essence. Tencent's approach includes a "Warfare" mode offering large-scale combat reminiscent of Battlefield, alongside an "Operations" mode focusing on extraction-style gameplay. A single-player campaign, inspired by the Battle of Mogadishu and the film "Black Hawk Down," is also slated for 2025.
Combating Cheaters
Despite the anticipation, Delta Force has faced controversy regarding its anti-cheat measures. Tencent's aggressive approach, employing G.T.I. Security, a dedicated anti-cheat team, has drawn criticism due to perceived overzealous restrictions on PC hardware and software. While this might be less of a concern on mobile platforms, the initial negative reaction could still impact the game's overall reception. Nevertheless, the mobile version offers a potential pathway to success, mitigating the cheating concerns prevalent in PC gaming.
