Digimon enthusiasts have much to celebrate following the recent DIGIMON CON 2025 event, where Bandai Namco unveiled exciting new developments within the franchise, including a new mobile trading card game (TCG) called Digimon Alysion and further details on the upcoming Digimon Story: Time Stranger.

Digimon's New Mobile TCG Digimon Alysion Is In Development
On March 20, during the DIGIMON CON 2025 Livestream, Bandai Namco introduced Digimon Alysion, a new mobile TCG currently in development. This game aims to capitalize on the success of other mobile card games like Pokémon TCG Pocket and Marvel Snap, expanding the Digimon TCG audience into the mobile gaming realm.
Digimon Alysion is designed as a free-to-play digital trading card game, allowing players to collect cards featuring various Digimon and franchise characters, construct their decks, and engage in battles with other players. A standout feature of Digimon Alysion is its in-depth story mode, which promises to offer players a rich narrative experience alongside the standard and competitive gameplay.
A new trailer for Digimon Alysion was also unveiled, showcasing gameplay snippets and introducing an all-female cast speculated to be part of the story mode. The new characters introduced are Kanata Hondo, Futre, and Valner Dragnogh, along with a new Digimon, Gemmon.
While no official release window was announced for Digimon Alysion, Bandai mentioned an upcoming closed beta test, with more details to be shared soon.
Digimon Story: Time Stranger More Details Revealed
The event also shed more light on Digimon Story: Time Stranger. Producer Ryosuke Hara discussed the game’s background, main characters, and showcased special moves of some Digimon featured in the game.
Hara confirmed that players can choose from three starter Digimon at the game's outset: Patamon, Gomamon, and DemiDevimon, all beloved characters from the original Digimon Adventure anime. This choice aligns with fan speculations based on the game's promotional artwork.
Digimon Story: Time Stranger boasts an impressive roster of over 450 Digimon, including popular characters like Angewomon, Gallantmon, and Agumon, making it the largest in the series. Its predecessor, Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth - Hacker’s Memory, had a total of 330 Digimon.
Hara also detailed the game's narrative and introduced the main characters. Players can select between two protagonists, Dan Yuki and Kanan Yuki, who are secret agents for the organization ADAMAS, tasked with uncovering threats to humans and Digimon. The main heroine, Inori Misono, and her partner Aegiomon, will join players on their journey. The game's title hints at its time-travel theme, with the protagonist navigating through different time periods.
Other announcements included a 25th Anniversary PV for the Digimon Anime, new starter decks and booster packs for the Digimon Trading Card Game, and an upcoming anime series, Digimon Beatbreak, set to premiere in October 2025.
