BioWare has largely shifted its focus away from Dragon Age: The Veilguard, but the dedicated remaining team continues to surprise fans by quietly adding a small DLC weapons pack to the game. Dragon Age enthusiasts were taken aback when the RPG's Steam page was recently updated to include the Rook’s Weapons Appearance Offer, a free add-on. This unexpected addition is particularly appreciated, as EA had previously indicated that Dragon Age: The Veilguard would not receive significant further support. The fifth patch released in January had already set expectations that future updates would primarily address game-breaking bugs, making this new content feel like a welcome miracle, however modest it may be.
Interestingly, the Rook’s Weapons Appearances bundle is exclusively available to current owners of the game and those who purchase it on PC before April 8, 2025. While there is no detailed description of what the bundle includes, players have discovered that it features a set of Watchful skins accessible in the Rook’s in-game room. It remains uncertain whether this offer will extend to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S versions of the game.
One Steam review noted, "Even if these appearances aren't the most, uh, beautiful things ever, they do give spooky eldritch horror vibes!" A Redditor expressed gratitude, stating, "It's cosmetic DLC, but it's essentially free DLC for a game that's practically no longer getting newer content. I'll live with that."
Dragon Age: The Veilguard launched to positive critical reception in October but, according to EA, did not "resonate with a broad enough audience." Consequently, lead members of the development team announced their departure from BioWare in late January, with much of the staff either being laid off or reassigned within the company. At that time, EA informed IGN that the studio would be shifting its "full focus" to the next installment of the Mass Effect series.
Adding to its post-launch journey, Dragon Age: The Veilguard was included in the PlayStation Plus March 2025 titles, only four months after its release. No further plans for the game's future have been disclosed.
