Formovie Episode One Hardware Reviewed: Projection Paradise?

At Droid Gamers, we often receive various pieces of tech to review, and a projector is a fresh addition to our lineup. Given its capability to stream mobile games onto a larger screen, the Formovie Episode One projector seemed like an exciting piece of technology to explore.

Designed to cater to those on a budget, the Episode One fulfills its promise admirably, despite some minor drawbacks. Right out of the box, you'll find the projector, a remote (without batteries), a power cable, and a manual. While it lacks the substantial feel of pricier models, its lightweight design at just three pounds enhances its portability, making it easy to carry around.

For those who require multiple connections, the Episode One might feel limited with only one USB-A port, one HDMI port, and a single audio jack. However, these are reasonable compromises given the unit's affordable price point and should suffice for most users.

Performance-wise, the Episode One holds its own quite well for its cost. With 150 ISO lumens, it isn't the brightest or most powerful laser-based projector on the market. It struggled in direct sunlight during our tests but excelled in darker environments, as expected. Every movie and TV show we tested displayed clearly, and streaming games also ran smoothly.

The sound output, while acceptable, was somewhat tinny due to the built-in speaker. For an enhanced audio experience, we highly recommend connecting an external speaker to the Episode One.

The user interface of the Episode One is one of the best in its category. Its straightforward setup and ease of use make it more user-friendly than many more expensive projectors we've encountered.

Overall, the Formovie Episode One is an excellent entry-level projector. It may not excel in any single area, but it offers a solid, all-around performance that should meet the needs of most casual users.

*As an added bonus, purchasing an Episode One projector before May 27th comes with a $15/€15 Netflix gift card. Don't miss out—click here to learn more.*
