Free Fire Joins Esports World Cup 2025 Lineup
Garena's blockbuster mobile battle royale, Free Fire, is making its highly anticipated return to Riyadh for the Esports World Cup (EWC) 2025. The tournament runs from July 16th to 20th, featuring an intense showdown among 18 elite squads battling for their share of a $1 million prize pool. An additional $10,000 bonus awaits the tournament's Most Valuable Player.
Tournament Structure & Format
The competition kicks off with a group stage divided into three pools of six teams each. The top twelve squads advance to the high-stakes Point-Rush phase before culminating in a thrilling Grand Final. Using a match point system, teams will compete until one emerges victorious as the world champion.
Defending Champions Return
Team Falcons, the reigning Free Fire EWC champions from 2024, automatically qualify for this year's event. Despite struggling early in last year's Point-Rush stage, they delivered when it counted most—securing two crucial Booyahs in the finals to claim victory and book their spot in Rio's World Series.
Regional Qualifiers Progress
The road to Riyadh is well underway, with regional qualifiers determining the remaining competitors:
- FFWS SEA concludes June 14th (8 teams)
- LATAM qualifier finishes June 1st (2 teams)
- Brazil wraps up June 22nd (4 teams)
- Single qualifiers from Pakistan, FF MSC, and Bangladesh
