Sunbird Studio has officially released Prickle on Android and iOS. This grid-based, Tetris-inspired puzzle takes clear cues from Sokoban-style gameplay. You join a family of hedgehogs and assist them on their journey home.
Assist an Adorable Prickly Family in Prickle
In the game, you enter the delightful world of DadHog, a devoted hedgehog father on a mission to find his lost hoglets and lead them back to safety. Each maze level requires careful consideration for every move you make.
The developer has introduced the "Prickle," a Tetris-like shape that forms as hoglets cling to DadHog and to each other. Once attached, a hoglet cannot be separated.
Levels grow increasingly difficult as the Prickle expands, becoming more challenging to navigate. Steering the growing cluster through narrow hedge-lined paths and around obstacles demands smart rotations and strategic pathfinding.
Prickle features 48 levels across four seasonal themes. Summer offers gentle, introductory navigation, while Autumn introduces acorns that stick to your Prickle, adding to its size.
Winter brings puddles into the mix. While DadHog cannot cross them, his hoglets might need to. Finally, Spring introduces blossoms that can clear away any leftover acorns.
A Minimalist 2D Puzzle Experience
One of Prickle's most charming features is its visual design. Every character, maze, and piece of menu text is hand-drawn using Godot and Krita, resulting in an endearing pen-and-paper aesthetic.
The core visuals are presented in monochrome, but you have the option to add subtle color highlights. You can also switch the theme from black-on-white to white-on-black. Other delightful details enhance the game's character, such as DadHog dozing off if you leave the game idle for a few minutes.
You can get a first look at Prickle in the video below.
You can find the game on the Google Play Store. The full version is priced at $4.99.
