LEGO Simpsons Krusty Burger: Now Building!

Author : Madison Jun 13,2025

The LEGO Krusty Burger set is a clear nod to the “Adults Welcome” philosophy that LEGO has embraced in recent years. Designed exclusively for the LEGO Store, this set offers a satisfying build experience paired with an impressive final model—a fully detailed fast-food restaurant packed with references from classic Simpsons episodes. The set includes seven iconic minifigures: Homer Simpson, Bart Simpson, Lisa Simpson, Farmer Krusty the Clown, Sideshow Bob, the Squeaky Voiced Teen, and Officer Lou.

When you think of Springfield’s most recognizable landmarks, the [ttpp] Simpson household comes first, followed closely by Moe’s Tavern and the Kwik-E-Mart. While both the house and the convenience store already have LEGO counterparts, it's the Krusty Burger that makes the next big splash—perhaps because Moe’s might be too controversial for mainstream LEGO branding.

While Moe’s Tavern has a more iconic and consistent layout across episodes, the Krusty Burger appears frequently enough throughout the series to serve as a versatile setting. Its generic, mass-produced aesthetic is actually part of its charm—making it the perfect canvas for LEGO designers to draw inspiration from multiple seasons.

LEGO designer Ann Healy meticulously studied various Simpsons episodes to create the most accurate and canonical version possible. Among the many referenced episodes, “Coming to Homerica” (Season 20, Episode 21) and “I’m Spelling as Fast as I Can” (Season 14, Episode 12) were particularly influential in shaping the design.

The build starts with Homer’s car, reimagined with Krusty-themed decorations from Homie the Clown (Season 6, Episode 15). This kind of subtle yet rewarding detail is sprinkled throughout the set. A poster of the infamous "Krusty Burglar" adds another layer of humor, referencing the moment Homer nearly kills him for stealing burgers.

One of the cash registers displays $6.15—the season and episode number of that same episode—while the other reads $847.63, a nod to Maggie scanning that exact amount during the show’s original opening sequence. That figure once represented the average monthly cost of raising a child in the U.S., making it a clever Easter egg for fans.

Additional nods include promotional posters for items like the Ribwich and the Mother Nature Burger, plus a drive-thru order board listing 700 Krusty Burgers—an homage to Boy-Scoutz ‘n the Hood (Season 5, Episode 8), where Krusty builds a burger on an oil rig.

Design Highlights

The interior layout is thoughtfully designed, featuring a dining area complete with a Krusty's Kidz Zone ball pit—where many scenes from the show take place. Behind the counter lies a realistic staff area, including a kitchen prep zone with fryer station and broken ice cream machine, an employee bathroom, and a functional drive-thru window with a soda dispenser. Even the stacked Krusty Burgers on the prep table reflect LEGO’s minimalist design approach—using minimal pieces to evoke realism.

Outside, the drive-thru setup feels authentic, with the ordering station around the corner from the pickup window. It’s these small touches that elevate the set beyond just a collection of references and make it feel like a real working restaurant.

Perfectly Tailored for Adults

This set is officially rated for ages 18+, placing it firmly in LEGO’s adult-focused lineup. While age ratings used to indicate build complexity alone, they now also reflect thematic maturity. The Krusty Burger is relatively simple to construct but appeals directly to Gen-X and Millennial fans who grew up watching The Simpsons.

As a high school teacher, I see parallels in how educators tailor content for older students learning English. Just like we wouldn’t give a 16-year-old a children’s book, LEGO understands that adult builders may want accessible builds with nostalgic, mature themes.

A Return to Springfield

It's been over a decade since LEGO released full-scale Simpsons sets—the iconic Simpson house debuted in 2014, followed by the Kwik-E-Mart in 2015. Since then, the franchise has enjoyed a resurgence in popularity among adult fans. With that in mind, there's hope for future annual releases, much like the Lord of the Rings line.

Let’s just say this: if LEGO plans to continue celebrating Springfield’s finest eateries, Moe’s Tavern would be our top pick next.
