Marvel Rivals Fans are Stretching Mister Fantastic's Meme Potential to Its Limit

Author : Lucy Mar 21,2025

Marvel Rivals players welcomed Mister Fantastic and the Invisible Woman during their debut weekend in Season 1 (January 10th, 2025), but Reed Richards' reception has been… unique. The stretchy scientist, a new Duelist hero, boasts elastic abilities allowing him to attack multiple enemies or adopt a tank-like role by expanding his body. While players are still mastering his gameplay, his somewhat goofy appearance has become a major talking point.

His ability to contort his body has fueled numerous memes, drawing comparisons to Monkey D. Luffy from One Piece. This has even inspired the modding community to create a One Piece custom skin, despite NetEase's recent crackdown on modding. His transformations, particularly his "rubber bodybuilder" form, provide ample comedic fodder. Some fans, like @BOOMERANG_117 on X/Twitter, have even playfully imagined a beardless version of the character.

His "Reflexive Rubber" ability, while strategically useful for redirecting enemy damage, is also undeniably silly. The visual of Mister Fantastic expanding to refrigerator-sized proportions has become another source of amusement. One Reddit user aptly summarized the sentiment: "Ngl I think Mr. Fantastic's design encapsulates everything great about this game. He's stupid and silly and cheesy and the game just lets him be that and is better for it."

Despite the humorous reactions, Mister Fantastic and the Invisible Woman have made a significant impact in their first weekend. The arrival of The Thing and Human Torch in the latter half of Season 1 is highly anticipated.
