However, eagle-eyed fans noticed some notable absences from the roster. Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) favorites like Tom Holland's Spider-Man and Chris Evans, who was rumored to appear in either Avengers: Doomsday or Secret Wars but later denied those rumors, were missing. Additionally, iconic characters such as Hulk, Hawkeye, Nick Fury, and Rhodey were not included. On the X-Men side, there was no mention of Deadpool, Wolverine, Storm, or Jean Grey.

The absence of these beloved characters led to a wave of disappointment among fans. Yet, hope remains alive. In a follow-up Instagram post, Robert Downey Jr. hinted at further announcements, stating, "That’s what u call a deep bench of talent. These hints suggest that Marvel has yet to unveil all the cast members for Avengers: Doomsday. The anticipation builds as fans speculate on who else might join the fray. Share your thoughts and predictions in the comments below.

Earlier this month, the Russo brothers described Avengers 5 and Avengers 6 as a "new beginning" that sets the stage for Phase 7 of the MCU. Joe Russo shared insights into their approach to the films, saying, "The only thing I’ll say about the movie is this: we love villains who think they’re the heroes of their own stories. That’s when they become three-dimensional and they become more interesting. When you have an actor like Robert Downey, you have to create a three-dimensional, well-shaped character for the audience. That’s where a lot of our focus is going."

Avengers: Doomsday is slated to hit theaters on May 1, 2026, with Secret Wars following a year later on May 27, 2027. Leading up to these releases, fans can look forward to Thunderbolts* in May 2025, the TV series Ironheart in June 2025, and the launch of Phase 6 with The Fantastic Four: First Steps in July 2025.

In addition, Marvel Studios has scheduled three untitled movie projects for 2028, set for February 18, May 5, and November 10. Speculation is rife that one of these could be an X-Men film, further expanding the MCU universe.
