Stun the Monster
One of the biggest challenges with Ebony Odogaron is its remarkable speed, which can make it a formidable opponent. To manage this, stunning the monster is key. Look for a Flashfly in the vicinity to trigger and momentarily stun Ebony Odogaron. Alternatively, crafting Flash Pods can provide you with a means to shoot at the monster and immobilize it, giving you crucial moments to attack.
Bring Teammates
Facing Ebony Odogaron alone can be daunting due to its relentless attacks. To increase your chances of success, consider calling for backup by sending out SOS signals. Other players might join your fight, or if none are available, NPCs can step in to assist. These allies can serve as a buffer, drawing the monster's attention away from you, allowing you to focus on evasion until the creature shifts its focus.
Pull Down Entangled Rocks
During the battle, you'll encounter areas with Entangled Rocks hanging above. Using your slinger to bring these down can stun Ebony Odogaron for a few precious seconds. This tactic can be used once per fight. Additionally, deploying Pitfall and Shock Traps can offer you two more opportunities to immobilize the creature.
Beware of Dragonblight
Ebony Odogaron can inflict Dragonblight, which, while not causing direct harm, will hinder your ability to deal elemental or status effect damage. To counteract this, carry Nulberries to cleanse the effect or equip decorations with Level 3 Dragon Resistance or Blight Resistance to mitigate its impact.
Inflict Paralysis
Inflicting Paralysis on Ebony Odogaron is highly recommended. This status effect will temporarily immobilize the monster, providing a window for significant damage. If the monster is knocked down near roots, it may become further entangled, giving you even more time to attack.
Aim for the Head
The head of Ebony Odogaron is its most vulnerable spot, boasting a 3-star weakness. Targeting this area can maximize your damage output, though it puts you at greater risk. If you prefer a safer approach, aim for its forelegs and tail. While these parts are less damaging to hit, successfully breaking them can still contribute to your victory.

How to Capture Ebony Odogaron in Monster Hunter Wilds
To capture Ebony Odogaron, you'll need to use either a Pitfall or Shock Trap. Ensure the monster's health is reduced to 20 percent or below before setting the trap, as the tranquilizer will only work effectively at this point. If the monster's health is too high, it will break free, forcing you to continue the fight.
Monster Hunter Wilds is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
