As anticipation builds for the August launch of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, Konami has unveiled the stealth classic's iconic opening cinematic.
While featuring subtle updates, the sequence remains instantly recognizable to longtime fans—from the vintage newspaper visuals to the return of Cynthia Harrell's signature James Bond-inspired theme song.
The trailer offers glimpses of key moments without context, including Snake's dramatic waterfall dive and—true to the game's title—the protagonist consuming serpentine cuisine.
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater faithfully recreates Konami's acclaimed 2004 stealth action title (minus the "Delta" designation in the original). Konami confirmed the August 28 release date while announcing the return of fan-favorite extras like the Snake vs. Monkey minigame. The remake retains the mature content from Metal Gear Solid 3, including the Peep Demo Theatre mode, as indicated by recent age ratings.
"Metal Gear Solid Delta feels closer to an ultra-polished remaster than a full reimagining," noted IGN's preview coverage, highlighting Snake's new first-person viewpoint. "While stunningly rendered, this nostalgic journey adheres perhaps too strictly to its source material." The original Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater earned our prestigious 9.6/10 rating.
