Metro 2033: A Walkthrough for the Cursed Station Mission
Despite its age, Metro 2033 remains a fan favorite, especially after the release of the VR title, Metro Awakening. This guide focuses on the challenging "Cursed" mission in the game's early stages, set within Moscow's subway tunnels – specifically, the Turgenevskaya station. This mission often trips players up due to unclear objectives and confusing station layout. The mission begins after witnessing a nosalis horde wiped out by an anomaly; Khan takes a railcar to the next station, and "Cursed" starts upon exiting.
Locating the Bomb
The defenders explain that an explosives team attempted to collapse the tunnel to stop the nosalis advance, but went missing. Your task: find and detonate the bomb. Expect constant nosalis attacks. If overwhelmed, retreat to the defenders for support. You'll likely need to do this at least once while searching.
The bomb is located at the far end of the right-hand tunnel. Avoid the ghostly shadows directly ahead; they'll damage you. Once you have the bomb, either proceed to the adjacent tunnel or retreat if under attack.
Destroying the Tunnel
To detonate the bomb, enter the left-hand tunnel (from the defenders' perspective). A cutscene will trigger, automatically planting and lighting the fuse. Escape immediately; the blast is lethal at close range.
Alternatively, a grenade or pipe bomb thrown into the same tunnel area will achieve the same result. Note: even with the tunnel destroyed, nosalises will still infiltrate from other points, so remain vigilant.
Destroying the Airlock
A second objective involves destroying an airlock to further secure the station. Locate the stairs on the right of the main platform, leading to a torchlit area. Ignore the nosalises here and interact with the support columns to place and detonate a pipe bomb. Again, evacuate the area quickly.
With both entrances sealed, proceed with Khan to a small shrine room, then through a floor panel to begin the "Armory" mission.
