Minecraft Live 2025 Unveils Vibrant Visuals, Flying Happy Ghast

Author : Penelope May 18,2025

Minecraft Live 2025 has concluded, and Mojang has unveiled a slew of exciting updates and new content for the iconic video game. Let's dive into the details of what's coming to Minecraft this year.

The first game drop of the year, aptly named "Spring to Life," is set to launch on March 25. This update will breathe new life into the Overworld, making biomes feel more immersive and alive. Players can look forward to new variants of classic mobs such as cows, pigs, and chickens, now available in warm and cold types. Additionally, "Spring to Life" introduces captivating ambient features like the glittering firefly bush, falling leaves, and the whispers of sand, enhancing the exploration experience.

The second game drop, while yet to be named, promises intriguing additions to the game. A new block called the Dried Ghast will be introduced, which, when rehydrated, transforms into a Ghastling—a smaller, baby version of the Ghast. The Ghastling can further evolve into a Happy Ghast, a new mob variant. Players can craft a Ghast harness to ride the Happy Ghast, allowing up to four players to fly together, adding a new dimension to multiplayer gameplay. The Happy Ghast is particularly useful for builders in Survival Mode, offering a creative-like experience within the survival setting. A new Locator Bar feature will also be added, helping players find their friends while flying on a Happy Ghast.

Mojang also announced a significant visual upgrade titled "Vibrant Visuals." This update aims to transform the visual experience of Minecraft without altering gameplay mechanics. For more details on this upgrade, check out IGN's separate article and their visuals comparison video.

In addition to game updates, Mojang shared an exclusive clip from the upcoming "A Minecraft Movie" and announced a movie-themed in-game live event. This event, set to take place in Midport Village from March 25 to April 7, will feature players teaming up with Steve and his movie companions to defend the village from a piglin attack through three engaging mini-games. Completing all challenges during the event will reward players with the coveted Yearn cape.

During our visit to Mojang's offices in Sweden, we learned more about the developer's stance on several key issues. Mojang has no plans to create a Minecraft 2, make the game free-to-play, or use generative AI in its development process.
