Indie studio We Are Muesli has officially unveiled their upcoming narrative game, In Their Shoes, which is set to launch in 2026 across both mobile and PC platforms. Already generating buzz, the game has earned a nomination for independent and arthouse titles at the prestigious 'A MAZE. 2025' awards in Berlin.
In Their Shoes: A Unique Narrative Experience
Set against the backdrop of present-day Milan—a city brimming with contrasts—In Their Shoes invites players to step into the lives of seven distinct characters. Through 49 brief yet immersive interactive episodes known as "Moments," players gain intimate insights into each individual's daily life, hesitations, routines, and pivotal choices.
Each Moment unfolds at its own pace. Some linger over a character's inner reflections, allowing time for contemplation. Others demand quick responses, capturing the urgency of real-life scenarios. Unlike traditional narrative games, the storyline here remains deliberately fragmented. As players weave together these scattered tales, they'll discover 26 hidden biographical details for every character, offering a raw, unfiltered look into their existence.
The game's non-linear structure ensures that no two playthroughs will ever be alike, making it a deeply personal journey for each participant.

Founded in Milan, Italy, in 2013, We Are Muesli has consistently pushed boundaries in merging artistry with compelling narratives. Known for their innovative approach, they've crafted experimental visual novels such as CAVE! CAVE! DEUS VIDET. and Venti Mesi. Their collaborative efforts extend to visually striking co-op projects like Siheyuan, as well as narrative-driven escape rooms like Ludmilla and Ventiquattro Elle.
