Charging your Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller is now faster than ever. According to Nintendo Life, the updated $84.99 Pro Controller charges in approximately three and a half hours when using either the Nintendo Switch 2 AC adapter or the USB-C charging cable. This is nearly half the time it takes to fully charge the original Pro Controller, which requires around six hours.
Despite the quicker charge time, the battery life remains impressive, offering roughly 40 hours of gameplay between charges—just like its predecessor. The new controller introduces several enhancements, such as the addition of a C button, two extra GL/GR buttons on the underside, and a sleeker, more lightweight design compared to the original.

For those who prefer sticking with their current controller, rest assured that the original controller remains compatible with the new console system.
Nintendo revealed the Switch 2 during a 60-minute Nintendo Direct earlier this month. Although pre-orders initially planned to begin in early April in the U.S., concerns over tariffs led to a postponement until April 24. During this time, Nintendo maintained the $449.99 price point for the console and games but adjusted prices for most accessories, increasing the cost of the Switch 2 Pro Controller from $80 to $85.
