Capcom has recently unveiled new gameplay footage for their highly anticipated 2026 action game, Onimusha: Way of the Sword. Adding to the excitement, the game will feature the legendary Japanese swordsman, Miyamoto Musashi, as its protagonist. This revelation came during the PlayStation State of Play event, where Capcom showcased the game's sword-based combat and its impressive large-scale enemies.
Although Onimusha: Way of the Sword is set to release in 2026, the gameplay looks promising, blending intense action with the storied prowess of Musashi. The trailer not only highlighted his unmatched sword skills but also introduced his roguish and comedic personality, adding depth to his character. Capcom has crafted Musashi's appearance to resemble the iconic Japanese actor Toshiro Mifune, who famously portrayed Musashi in samurai films.
Described as a dark fantasy action game by Capcom, Onimusha: Way of the Sword is set in a demon-infested Kyoto, overrun by an evil force called Malic, which is summoning Hell into Japan. This marks the first new entry in the Onimusha series in two decades. To prepare fans for this long-awaited sequel, Capcom will also release a remaster of Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny on May 23, 2025.
