Since the announcement of the upcoming Lies of P DLC, Overture, fans have been buzzing with theories about the secrets it might hold. At last week's Game Developers Conference, IGN confirmed at least one mystery it won't address: the shocking twist revealed in the base game's final cutscene.
For those who haven't completed Lies of P, here’s a spoiler-free summary: the ending includes a scene that strongly hints at the future direction of the Lies of P universe. It’s a wild reveal that has sparked intense fan speculation about its implications and whether the DLC would provide answers. However, Lies of P director Jiwon Choi confirmed that this scene is not connected to the DLC. Beyond that, he simply stated, “Please stay tuned for additional announcements in the future.”

Neowiz has already confirmed a full sequel to Lies of P, making it likely the cutscene is a teaser for that project. Details about Lies of P 2 remain scarce, other than that it's in development. Choi declined to share any hints about the sequel during our discussion.
“I can assure you that when we have news or media to share, we will do so once we are fully prepared to present it. This reflects our strict commitment to quality, even amid the pressures we've discussed before. That’s my promise: when we release any content or updates, we’ll be ready to share it with confidence.”

The scene we asked Choi about is, of course, the Dorothy cameo. We covered this in detail here, but to summarize: the final cutscene shows Paracelsus on a phone call, vowing to “find her, for sure. Another key of ours: Dorothy.” The camera then reveals the iconic striped socks and ruby slippers of Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz, strongly suggesting that Lies of P’s future will explore other public-domain fairy tales. The how and why remain unclear, and we now know Overture won’t provide those answers.
SPOILERS END HERE.
We did uncover a few clues about what the DLC will include. Choi suggests that while waiting for Overture, fans should revisit the base game, as it already contains hints about what’s to come.
“Playing through the base game again, you’ll notice many clues we’ve hidden throughout the experience,” Choi explained. “These hints and glimpses into the world will become fully realized in the expansion… There were many ideas I originally wanted to include in the base game that didn’t make the cut. Key elements from those concepts will appear in the DLC.”

He added that some fans are already on the right track, noting that he regularly reads fan theories online and that “some of them are quite close.”
We also learned a few additional details: Choi mentioned that the DLC will take experienced players roughly 15-20 hours to complete. It becomes accessible after reaching a specific chapter in the main game and remains available through the end. As revealed in the initial announcement, the DLC serves as a prequel, with the protagonist sent back in time to Krat just before its downfall. It will introduce new areas, enemies, bosses, characters, and weapons—though Choi emphasized keeping most specifics under wraps until release.
