Overwatch 2 Skin Giveaway Announced After Backlash

Blizzard's handling of the Overwatch 2 Cyber DJ skin has ignited another controversy. Initially sold for $19.99, the skin was unexpectedly offered for free a day later to Twitch viewers watching a one-hour broadcast on February 12th.

This sparked considerable backlash from players who had already purchased the skin, leading to widespread calls for refunds. While the skin has since been removed from the in-game store, Blizzard has yet to address the refund requests. This isn't the first time Blizzard has faced criticism for selling cosmetic items only to later offer them for free.

Facing stiff competition, particularly from the successful Marvel Rivals, Blizzard is countering with a promise of major gameplay changes. These changes will be showcased during a special Overwatch 2 Spotlight event on February 12th. The broadcast will feature reveals of new maps, heroes, and other content. Blizzard will also host prominent streamers at their headquarters to provide an exclusive preview of upcoming updates.
