Record Demand Creates Scarcity for New Pokemon TCG Set
Reprint Efforts Underway to Meet Player Demand

On January 16, 2025, The Pokemon Company confirmed production increases for their sold-out Prismatic Evolutions expansion following reports by IGN.
"We recognize some collectors may face challenges obtaining Scarlet & Violet—Prismatic Evolutions products due to unprecedented demand," stated a company representative. "While we regret any inconvenience, we're operating printing facilities at full capacity to replenish stock promptly."
Though fans currently face waiting periods, officials assure accelerated production will restore normal availability soon.
U.S. Retailers Bear Impact of Unexpected Popularity

PokeBeach first reported shortages on January 4, 2025, noting disproportionate impacts on specialty retailers.
"This surge stems from non-traditional stores requesting inventory," explained Deguire of Player 1 Services, Maryland's premier Pokemon retailer. Distributors reportedly capped allocations at 10-15% per store to accommodate new vendors while prioritizing major chains like Target and GameStop.

The scarcity sparked inflated secondary market prices, with unreleased Elite Trainer Boxes commanding $127 versus their $55 MSRP. Analysts anticipate price normalization once reprints enter circulation, deterring speculative resellers.
