U.S. gamers are feeling the impact of import tariffs once more, this time with Razer's Blade 16 gaming laptop caught in the crossfire.
Tariffs function as taxes on imported goods. While companies could absorb these costs, they are typically passed on to consumers. For gamers, this trend is likely to drive up prices for technology and gaming hardware.
In some cases, products are even being temporarily withdrawn from the market. As reported by The Verge, the Blade 16 was listed for sale in the U.S. as recently as April 1st, but the option to purchase it has now been completely removed from Razer's website.
While European gamers can currently order the new laptop (subject to availability), the U.S. site only offers a "Notify Me" button for updates, with no prices shown. Attempting to access the Buy Now page results in a 404 error.
Razer isn't the only company quietly pulling sales information during this period of market uncertainty. Tariffs targeting China and Taiwan—key manufacturing hubs for PC components—are also expected to affect U.S. consumers. Memory manufacturer Micron has warned of price increases, and PC maker Framework has completely "temporarily paused" some U.S. sales.
Last week, the initially listed Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order date of April 9th was removed in the United States following market turbulence triggered by President Trump's tariffs. The issue quickly spread, with Nintendo Canada also confirming delays for pre-orders.
Nintendo fans and industry analysts are now worried that the company may further increase the price of the Switch 2 and its games, compounding existing consumer concerns about the console's cost following its reveal.
