It looks like one of the PlayStation Plus games for May 2025 has been leaked. While Sony has yet to confirm anything, rumors are swirling that the teen slasher horror game, Until Dawn, will be available as a free download for PlayStation players next month. The leaked key art suggests it might be the Until Dawn Remastered edition, not the 2014 original, though we're still waiting for official word to clear up any confusion.
PlayStation Plus is Sony's online gaming service that offers a range of benefits, including free monthly games, time-limited trials, online multiplayer access, and exclusive discounts for members. It also boasts a vast catalog of current and classic games available to Extra and Premium members, while the monthly free games are accessible to all subscribers, regardless of their tier.
Speculation from the PlayStation community on Reddit, highlighted by PushSquare, suggests this move could be a promotional strategy for the recently released Until Dawn movie. Unfortunately, the movie didn't live up to expectations, earning a disappointing 5/10 from IGN. In our review, we noted that "Until Dawn is more disappointing than deadly, leaving all the promise of the horror game behind for a jumble of horror-movie re-creations."
Similarly, the 2024 remaster of Until Dawn received the same lukewarm 5/10 score from IGN, with our review describing it as "an overpriced and under-featured remake that seems less like a must-have bit of moonlit murder and something closer to daylight robbery." In contrast, the original 2015 game by Supermassive Games was more favorably received, earning a 7.5/10.
In other PlayStation Plus news, 22 games are slated to be removed from the service next month, including popular titles like Grand Theft Auto 5, Payday 2: Crimewave Edition, and the final playable versions of first-party games Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2. Once removed, Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2 will no longer be available on modern consoles.
