In the ever-revolving world of television, where beloved shows often find new life, the iconic 2000s hospital sitcom Scrubs is set to make a triumphant return. It's been 24 years since fans were first introduced to Zach Braff's endearing character, junior doctor JD, as he navigated the ups and downs at Sacred Heart Hospital. Now, Braff is gearing up to don the scrubs once again in ABC's eagerly anticipated Scrubs reboot, which promises a blend of familiar faces and fresh talent.
If this idea rings a bell, it's because ABC previously attempted a similar concept during Scrubs' ninth season. That season saw Braff and other series regulars passing the torch to a new, younger ensemble, but it didn't capture the hearts of fans and was discontinued after just nine episodes.

Nearly two decades later, ABC is giving it another go. The mastermind behind the original series, Bill Lawrence, is spearheading this revival, envisioning it as a unique reboot/revival hybrid. With Braff's return secured, Entertainment Weekly suggests that other beloved cast members are likely to follow suit.
Bill Lawrence shared his thoughts with Deadline, stating, "We've been talking about a lot, and I think the only real reason to do it is a combo. A: people wanting to see what the world of medicine was like for the people they love, which is part of any successful reboot. But B: I think that show always worked because you get to see young people dropped into the world of medicine, knowing young people that go there are super idealistic and are doing it because it's a calling."
Scrubs originally aired 182 episodes between 2001 and 2010. While fans eagerly await more details, there's no confirmed date yet on when production for new episodes will begin.
