Semine or Hashek: Best Outcome in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2's Necessary Evil Quest

Author : Noah Apr 18,2025

In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, the main story quest "Necessary Evil" presents players with some of the most challenging moral decisions in the game. Here's a comprehensive guide to help you navigate through the quest and make informed choices about siding with Semine or Hashek.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Necessary Evil Quest Walkthrough

After completing the main quest "Back in the Saddle," you can start "Necessary Evil." In this quest, von Bergow assigns Hans and Henry to gather information from Nebakov Fortress and interrogate a prisoner. The interrogation's outcome is crucial as it will decide whether von Bergow targets Semine or Nebakov Fortress. This guide focuses on choosing Semine, where the moral dilemmas become more pronounced.

Prisoner Interrogation Answers

During the interrogation, you'll need to pass several Speech checks. You can either use threats or resort to torture to extract information from the prisoner. Here are the Speech check requirements:

  • "We’ll put in a good word for you." (20 Impression)
  • "Istvan and I are old acquaintances." (20 Impression)
  • "Otherwise, it’ll end badly for you." (17 Intimidation)

Post-interrogation, you'll uncover details about the bandit leader and Semine's involvement. When reporting back to von Bergow, you can either inform him of Young Semine's collusion with the bandits, leading to an attack on Semine, or claim no one aided the bandits, directing the attack towards Nebakov.

Should You Attack Semine or Nebakov?

Opting to attack Semine involves accompanying the party to the town, where you'll face further tough decisions with Hashek. Conversely, choosing Nebakov allows von Bergow to handle the bandits there, concluding the quest immediately. While attacking Nebakov might spare Semine from bloodshed, morally, it's questionable to let Semine escape consequences for actions that caused many innocent deaths. Personally, I chose to attack Semine as it felt like the right choice, despite having interacted with the townsfolk earlier in the game.

Remember, if you decide to attack Semine, you must ride with the party. Falling behind could result in the town's massacre. Riding with them gives you an opportunity to intervene and help Semine.

Should You Side With Semine or Hashek?

Before heading out, you can talk to Hashek, who clearly seeks revenge on Semine and favors a violent approach. Upon arrival, you must choose between siding with Semine or Hashek. To side with Hashek, select the dialogue option "Hashek is right." To support Semine, choose "Olda deserves a trial."

I recommend siding with Semine. Although he erred by aiding the bandits, Hashek's desire for destruction would lead to more innocent casualties. Playing Henry as a morally upright character, it's fitting to oppose Hashek's brutality. After defeating Hashek, advise the Semines to burn their estate and flee, which advances the quest and leads you to your next objective: reporting back to von Bergow.

If you side with Hashek, the entire town will be killed. Additionally, you can find Olda in the tower and decide his fate—whether to spare him or hand him over to Hashek.

Should You Tell von Bergow or Let Hans Talk?

The quest's final phase involves reporting to von Bergow. You can either let Hans do the talking or have Henry reveal what transpired at Semine. I suggest staying silent and allowing Hans to speak. Hans is more diplomatic, and his approach will keep both characters in von Bergow's favor, prompting him to plan his next move at Nebakov.
