Silent Hill Transmission Sheds Light on Silent Hill f

New Official Reveal Trailer

The Silent Hill Transmission broadcast on March 13, 2025, provided fans with fresh insights into Silent Hill f, including a gripping new trailer. Unlike the series' traditional setting in a fictional American town, Silent Hill f transports players to the haunting atmosphere of 1960s Japan.

The game's narrative centers on Shimizu Hinako, an ordinary teenager whose life takes a dark turn when her town becomes engulfed in mysterious fog and undergoes horrifying transformations. Hinako must navigate this unrecognizable town, solve intricate puzzles, confront bizarre enemies, and make life-altering decisions to survive. The story is described as "a tale about a beautiful yet terrifying choice."

Set in the fictional town of Ebisugaoka, inspired by the real-life Kanayama in Gero, Gifu Prefecture, the developers have meticulously recreated the town's intricate alleyways. They used detailed reference photos, captured sounds of everyday life, and incorporated historical materials to authentically represent the 1960s setting.

Find the Beauty in Terror

Silent Hill f Brings Signature Horror to Japan

Silent Hill series producer Motoi Okamoto highlighted that the central theme of Silent Hill f is to "find the beauty in terror." While retaining the psychological horror core of the series, which was typically set in the West, the team aimed to explore and embrace Japanese horror themes.

Okamoto explained, "Japanese horror often intertwines beauty with terror. When something becomes excessively beautiful and perfect, it can evoke deep unease. Players will experience this duality through the eyes of a young girl faced with a beautiful yet terrifying decision."

Silent Hill f Is A Completely Independent Story

Okamoto emphasized that Silent Hill f offers a standalone narrative, accessible to newcomers yet filled with easter eggs for long-time fans. The game's writer, Ryukishi07, known for his acclaimed psychological Japanese horror visual novels, brings his expertise to the project. As a dedicated fan of the Silent Hill series, Ryukishi07 aims to honor the franchise's origins while introducing new challenges.

Ryukishi07 acknowledged the difficulty of crafting a Silent Hill game outside its iconic setting, stating, "From a creator's perspective, I believe we've made a true Silent Hill game. However, we're eager to hear from long-time fans and see if they share this view."

Silent Hill f is now available for wishlisting on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. While an official release date has yet to be announced, stay tuned for the latest updates by clicking on our article below!
