Playable Version of Hollow Knight: Silksong
Accessible at Game Worlds in Australia

Hollow Knight: Silksong ranks among the most eagerly awaited games in recent memory, with many fans longing to experience it firsthand. The extended wait could soon end, as a playable version will be available at Australia's National Museum of Screen Culture (ACMI). This new build may differ significantly from the 2019 E3 demo, which many viewed as more of a "proof of concept" than a complete preview.
ACMI will host a video game exhibition titled Game Worlds from September 18, 2025, until February 8, 2026. The showcase will include several prominent titles, such as World of Warcraft, The Sims, and Australia’s own Hollow Knight: Silksong. These games will feature exclusive custom builds, alongside original design materials, concept art, and iconic items.
In an interview with IGN, ACMI co-curators Bethan Johnson and Jini Maxwell expressed their excitement about including Silksong in the exhibition. They stated, "Since its initial announcement in 2019, Hollow Knight: Silksong has been one of the most anticipated indie games worldwide. We are delighted to highlight the design of this South Australian-crafted game as a centerpiece of Game Worlds this September."

Since its 2019 announcement, details about Silksong have been limited, leading fans to seek out rumors and speculate about its release date and features. ACMI aims to address this information gap by offering more insights during the Game Worlds exhibit.
The ACMI co-curators shared that the exhibition will explore the world of Hollow Knight’s sequel in greater depth. They elaborated, "From the hundreds of sprites that bring Hornet’s movements and attacks to life, to the strategic design behind the game’s toughest boss encounters—and, of course, the opportunity to play the game in-gallery—our Silksong exhibit offers an in-depth look into the artistic vision and development process."

While the Australian event might hint at Silksong’s potential launch timeframe, no official release date has been confirmed. Last month, Silksong made a brief appearance during the Switch 2 Direct, reaffirming its planned 2025 release window. Given that the exhibition runs until 2026, hopeful players are optimistic that Silksong will launch in September or sometime during the exhibition period.
Hollow Knight: Silksong is scheduled for release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. For the latest updates and news about the game, refer to our article below!
