Square Enix Unveils Kingdom Hearts 4: Promises to Meet Fan Expectations

Author : Noah May 26,2025

Square Enix has once again confirmed that Kingdom Hearts 4 is actively in development, putting to rest any lingering doubts among fans. This assurance came via a recent social media post, which was accompanied by captivating images, leaving no room for ambiguity.

Just a day earlier, the company announced the cancellation of Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link, a GPS-based action-RPG intended for mobile platforms. However, they seized this opportunity to reassure the Kingdom Hearts community that the team remains deeply committed to crafting Kingdom Hearts 4.

"We’re currently working hard on Kingdom Hearts 4 and will continue pouring ourselves into the game’s development. We’re dedicated to making this an experience that lives up to your expectations!" the first of two posts declared, accompanied by a collage of several screenshots. These images not only teased some of the characters players can expect to encounter but also offered glimpses of cinematic scenes, combat sequences, platforming challenges, and an imposingly large enemy.

"We’ve seen how excited you are, and we are truly grateful from the bottom of our hearts," the second post continued. "We are equally excited and can’t wait to share more about Kingdom Hearts IV when the time is right. Until then, we appreciate your patience. Thank you for your continued support."

This update marks the first substantial news about the eagerly awaited sequel in months, following a cryptic hint in January. Although Kingdom Hearts 4 was initially unveiled in September 2022 with a full cinematic trailer, Square Enix had maintained a low profile until this recent announcement.

Series director Tetsuya Nomura has hinted that Kingdom Hearts 4 will finally steer the series narrative toward its conclusion after 22 years and an impressive 18 games.

Regarding the now-canceled Missing-Link, Square Enix extended heartfelt apologies to fans who were eagerly anticipating the game. The decision to cancel stemmed from the realization that delivering a satisfactory service over an extended period would be challenging.
