Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone, the creator of Stardew Valley, has hinted at the possibility of developing a sequel, tentatively titled "Stardew Valley 2." While this news might thrill fans, Barone tempered expectations during an interview with TigerBelly. He emphasized the ease of enhancing the existing game rather than starting anew, stating, "It's so much easier to just add more stuff to Stardew Valley than to make a whole new game from scratch."
Barone elaborated on the appeal of updating Stardew Valley, noting that the major systems are already in place, making it simpler to introduce new elements like "green rain" and other whimsical ideas. Despite this, he remains open to the idea of a sequel, saying, "I might eventually make a Stardew Valley 2, to be honest," as reported by Nintendo Life.
In the same interview, Barone expressed his desire to diversify his portfolio beyond Stardew Valley. This ambition is reflected in his current project, Haunted Chocolatier. However, fans should not hold their breath for a release date anytime soon, as Barone believes there is "still a lot to be done" and aims for it to surpass Stardew Valley in quality.
