Stellar Blade’s Patch 1.009 update not only introduced the much-anticipated Photo Mode and NieR: Automata collaboration DLC, but also some critical bugs. Players have reported being softlocked from progressing a main quest in an earlier dungeon. Others have experienced game crashes using the selfie cam in Photo Mode, and the new cosmetic items aren't rendering correctly on Eve.

Developers Shift Up are working on a hotfix to address these issues. They advise against forcing quest progression and suggest waiting for the hotfix, as brute-forcing may cause permanent softlocks even after the fix.

NieR: Automata DLC and Photo Mode

Patch 1.009 for Stellar Blade includes substantial content, beginning with the NieR: Automata crossover! The Stellar Blade developers stated on the PlayStation Blog that NieR: Automata "significantly inspired" the game, and that this "collaboration between Director Kim Hyung Tae and Director Yoko Taro, marked by mutual respect and creativity, resulted in this successful outcome."
