With Memorial Day weekend approaching, I'm gearing up for some serious shopping. The looming uncertainty around tariffs and potential price hikes in the U.S. has me thinking it's time to finally upgrade my gaming setup. I've been putting this off for years, but it's starting to feel like a now-or-never scenario.
Since last week, many Memorial Day sales have gone live, and I've been particularly impressed with the Wayfair sale for furniture. I'm on the hunt for a new office chair, desk, and a bookcase to house my game collection. Navigating the Wayfair website has been a breeze, making it a top choice for me. Additionally, I've been checking out IGN's recommendations for the best gaming chairs and desks to expand my options across various brands.
If you're also looking to enhance your gaming setup or office space during these sales, here's how I suggest you go about it:
Start With the Wayfair Sale
Wayfair's Memorial Day sale is a treasure trove of home and office deals. With thousands of discounts, it's an excellent starting point due to the sheer volume of offers and the user-friendly interface that allows you to filter by dimensions, material, color, and price. Even if you don't end up purchasing from Wayfair, it's a great place to get a sense of what you want for your space. I've had good experiences buying bookshelves, rugs, lamps, and tables from them, but for premium office chairs or gaming-specific desks, you might want to look elsewhere.
Splurge on Comfort Only
When upgrading your entire setup, I recommend splurging on the chair. My current office chair is on its last legs, literally held together by a pair of sweatpants. Since I'll be using this new chair for both work and gaming, I'm being very selective. I'm torn between a gaming chair and an office chair, but IGN's endorsement of the Secretlab Titan Evo during their Memorial Day sale is highly tempting.
Get Your Accessories at Amazon
Customizing your gaming setup with accessories like RGB lights, mouse pads, laptop stands, headset holders, and Steam Deck docks is crucial. Amazon has consistently offered the best prices on these items. While Wayfair might have a fun Darth Vader cardboard cutout on sale, Amazon is where I've found the best deals on everything else.
It's also worth noting that Amazon has some of the best Memorial Day TV deals, especially with the LG C4 hitting a new all-time low price, making it an excellent choice for both console and PC gamers.
Upgrade Your Gaming PC While You Can
I currently rely on my Steam Deck and Nintendo Switch for gaming, which offers great mobility but lacks in performance. A new gaming PC with an RTX 5090 is on my wishlist, but with rising GPU prices and the potential purchase of a Switch 2 in the future, it's not feasible for me right now.
However, if you're in the market for a new gaming laptop or PC, Memorial Day sales are a great time to buy. I recommend starting with the Dell Memorial Day sale, but don't overlook discounts at HP, Lenovo, and Best Buy. Here are the major sales I've found in this category:
