Squares: Conquer the Daily Word Strand Puzzle!
Squares is a daily word puzzle game challenging players to strategically complete squares on a grid to form words. The goal? Maximize your score by finding as many words as possible!
Gameplay:
Connect letters in any direction—horizontally, vertically, or diagonally—to create words. Words must be at least four letters long, and each tile can only be used once per word. Hyphenated words, proper nouns, offensive language, and uncommon terms are excluded.
Scoring:
Each letter in a valid word earns one point. A five-letter word, for instance, scores five points.
Bonus Words & Challenges:
The puzzle includes obscure, archaic, or slang "bonus words." These don't add to your score but appear on a separate list, offering a post-victory challenge. Additionally, each puzzle features a "Word of the Day"—a special, often longer bonus word—unlocking two extra hints upon successful discovery.
Daily Puzzles & Hints:
A new Squares puzzle is released daily at midnight. Need a fresh perspective? Rotate the grid left or right using the buttons in the bottom right corner.
After finding 40% of the words, a helpful hint is revealed: a number on each letter indicates how many words begin with that letter (a zero means no words start with that letter). Letters turning orange are no longer used in the main word list but might still appear in bonus words.
Each puzzle offers 3 to 5 hints (lightbulb icons), revealing the first letter and search direction of a random word. The hint count varies based on puzzle difficulty. Sharing your game link with friends grants an additional hint!
