VoiceTra is a versatile speech translation application designed to facilitate communication during travel or when hosting visitors in Japan. It serves as your personal speech translator, enhancing your travel experiences by breaking down language barriers.
■Features:
VoiceTra harnesses advanced speech recognition, translation, and synthesis technologies developed by the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT). It translates your spoken words into various languages and delivers the results through synthesized speech. The application allows for instant switching of translation directions, enabling two people speaking different languages to communicate effectively using a single device. For languages without speech input support, text input is available.
VoiceTra is particularly suited for travel-related conversations, making it ideal for a variety of situations and locations such as:
- Transportation: Bus, train, rent-a-car, taxi, airport, transit
- Shopping: Restaurant, shopping, payment
- Hotel: Check-in, check-out, cancellation
- Sightseeing: Overseas travel, serving and supporting foreign customers
VoiceTra has also been recognized as a valuable tool for disaster prevention and related scenarios.
While it can be used as a dictionary for word lookups, VoiceTra performs best when you input sentences, as it interprets the meaning from the context to provide more accurate translations.
■Supported Languages:
VoiceTra supports a comprehensive list of 31 languages, including Japanese, English, Chinese (simplified and traditional), Korean, Thai, French, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Spanish, Myanmar, Arabic, Italian, Ukrainian, Urdu, Dutch, Khmer, Sinhala, Danish, German, Turkish, Nepali, Hungarian, Hindi, Filipino, Polish, Portuguese, Brazilian Portuguese, Malay, Mongolian, Lao, and Russian.
