Author : Brooklyn May 01,2025

The Monster Hunter Wilds beta is back with a vengeance, introducing a series of thrilling new challenges that have the community buzzing. At the forefront of this excitement is the formidable new foe, Arkveld, which has elicited a mix of excitement and dread among beta players.

As the flagship monster for Monster Hunter Wilds, Arkveld not only graces the game's cover but also promises to play a pivotal role throughout players' adventures in the wilds. In the latest beta test, brave hunters have the opportunity to confront the Chained Arkveld, with a challenging 20-minute time limit and a maximum of five "faints" before defeat.

Arkveld is no ordinary beast. This massive winged creature is equipped with electric chains extending from its arms, capable of delivering thunderous attacks that crackle through the air. Its speed and agility are surprising, making it a formidable opponent. Experienced hunters have reported being sent back to camp by Arkveld's powerful moves, showcasing the new technology's ability to create dynamic and challenging encounters. One particularly stunning attack involves Arkveld grabbing the hunter, roaring menacingly, and then slamming them to the ground, leaving players thunderstruck.

The monster's presence has also led to some unexpected and humorous moments. A video shared on the r/MHWilds subreddit captured Arkveld interrupting a player's meal, proving that the wilds are no place for a peaceful lunch.

Despite its difficulty, Arkveld's fearsome nature has invigorated the Monster Hunter community. The thrill of taking down such a dangerous and iconic monster is at the heart of the game's appeal. The "Chained" designation, along with Arkveld's flagship status, has sparked speculation about the potential existence of an even more terrifying "Unchained" version in the future.

The Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta Test 2 is scheduled from February 6 through 9, and then from February 13 through 16. During this period, players can hunt both Arkveld and the returning monster, Gypceros, as well as explore additional features such as the Training Area and Private Lobbies.

Monster Hunter Wilds is set to launch on February 28, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. For more in-depth coverage, check out IGN First's final preview of Monster Hunter Wilds.
