Ubisoft Mainz has revealed new insights into Anno 1800's successor, Anno 117: Pax Romana, via a recently released trailer. Previous announcements highlighted exploration of Lazio and Albion; however, the new preview suggests Lazio serves as an introductory region before players progress to the main setting in Albion.
Creative Director Manuel Rainer explains that Lazio starts as a peaceful region, but a sudden catastrophe forces players to venture into uncharted territories – Britain (Albion). Albion presents significant challenges: a harsh climate, rebellious native tribes, and its remoteness from Rome create considerable governance difficulties.
Players take on the role of a governor, challenged to overcome these obstacles without relying solely on military might. Diplomacy and respect for local traditions are key to success. A notable gameplay element is the customizable ships, offering strategic choices between increased speed (using oarsmen) or enhanced offensive capabilities (with archery turrets).
Anno 117: Pax Romana is scheduled for release in 2025 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
