Dynasty Warriors Origins: Optimal Difficulty Setting Guide

Author : Camila Apr 10,2025

Dynasty Warriors games, despite their hack-and-slash style, require a certain level of skill from players. Understanding this, Dynasty Warriors: Origins introduces four difficulty settings, enabling players to customize their experience to match their skill level and desired challenge. As a reboot, both new and veteran players might be uncertain about the optimal difficulty setting. The ideal choice can vary, influenced by the player's expertise and their expectations for the game's challenge.

All Dynasty Warriors: Origins Difficulty Settings

In Dynasty Warriors: Origins, players have the option to choose from four difficulty settings, though initially, only three are accessible. At the start, players can select from Historian (easy), Wayfarer (normal), and Hero (hard). The fourth setting, Ultimate Warrior (very hard), becomes available after completing one of the three main faction scenarios.

While there's an achievement for completing a single battle on Ultimate Warrior, there are no achievements tied specifically to completing the main campaign on any difficulty.

Which Dynasty Warriors: Origins Difficulty Setting is Best?

For beginners or those primarily interested in the storyline, Historian is the ideal choice as it serves as the game's easy mode. Most players, including those with limited experience in Musou/Warriors games, will find Wayfarer to be the most suitable setting. Dedicated fans of the series might opt for Hero from the start. However, seasoned Musou players might want to challenge themselves with Ultimate Warrior once it's unlocked, especially to keep the game engaging while tackling remaining missions, requests, and scenarios.

Players can adjust the difficulty between battles through the config menu without impacting the story, allowing them to find the perfect balance of challenge and enjoyment.

Difficulty Mode Differences in Dynasty Warriors: Origins

In Historian mode, all enemy attacks are blockable, and it's easier to stagger foes, gain bravery, and fill the Musou Gauge. On the other hand, Hero mode increases enemy strength and aggression, shortens the window for parries and perfect evades, and removes Meat Buns from enemy drops. Blocking in Hero mode depletes bravery, reduces the time to influence battles between allied and enemy forces, and slightly decreases the earnings of Skill Points and gold. Ultimate Warrior mode amplifies these challenges from Hero, with even tighter parry and evade windows and significantly reduced battle earnings.
