Universal Announces Fallout and Five Nights at Freddy

IGN has exclusively learned that Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights locations in Orlando and Hollywood will debut a new haunted house based on Prime Video's Fallout series. Additionally, the Five Night's at Freddy's experience will draw inspiration from the recent film adaptation, featuring animatronics created by Jim Henson's Creature Shop - the same team behind the movie's robotic characters.

Radiation and Rampage Await

The Fallout haunted house experience will launch on August 29 at Universal Orlando Resort and September 4 at Universal Studios Hollywood. Visitors will relive pivotal moments from Fallout's debut season, beginning with an immersive journey through Vault 33 that follows Lucy MacLean's escape from a violent attack while uncovering dark secrets.

After exiting the vault, guests will navigate the post-apocalyptic Wasteland where they must avoid hostile Scavengers, Raiders, and mutated RAD Roaches. The terrifying tour includes stops at the Super Duper Mart, confrontations with the Ghoul, and an encounter with Maximus in his imposing T-60 power armor.

Designing the Apocalypse

Universal's creative teams have gone to extraordinary lengths to authentically recreate the Fallout universe. "We want fans to immediately recognize they're inside a Fallout vault," explained Matthew Flood, Senior Show Director at Universal Orlando. "The level of detail extends to environmental storytelling - from authentic vault interiors to the grisly remains of unfortunate wastelanders."

John Murdy, Creative Director at Universal Studios Hollywood, emphasized the unique opportunity Fallout presents: "The retro-futuristic 1950s aesthetic and nuclear wasteland setting offer completely new terrain for Halloween Horror Nights. It's a fresh interpretation of post-apocalyptic horror we've never attempted before."

Custom Experiences Coast-to-Coast

Each park will feature unique elements tailored to their locations. Universal Hollywood will debut a fully animatronic Yao Guai bear among other creature variants, while Orlando prepares an explosive battle sequence featuring the T-60 armor. Both experiences contain carefully hidden Easter eggs throughout the environments, including a special Pip-Boy hidden within the Super Duper Mart.

The creative process involved unprecedented levels of detail - Murdy's planning documents reached approximately 100 pages, outlining both narrative flow and technical specifications. "Our goal is to satisfy casual visitors while rewarding dedicated fans with dozens of subtle references from both the series and games," Murdy explained.

Regarding Five Nights at Freddy's, Murdy teased a remarkably faithful adaptation: "This experience will make guests feel like they've stepped directly into the movie." Additional details about both attractions will be revealed closer to the Halloween Horror Nights opening dates.
