"Fantastic Four's First Steps Trailer Unveils Galactus' Earth Devouring"

Author : Jacob Jun 27,2025

Marvel Studios has just unveiled the final trailer for *The Fantastic Four: First Steps*, delivering a thrilling glimpse into the cosmic threat that awaits. Among the standout moments is the first substantial look at Julia Garner’s Silver Surfer and Ralph Ineson’s Galactus, a villain whose presence alone promises to shake the foundations of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While Galactus’ face remains partially obscured in the trailer, his looming menace and planetary-scale threat are unmistakable.

Interestingly, the trailer may have already revealed how Galactus intends to consume Earth—thanks to one key visual clue. Read on to uncover how the Devourer of Worlds plans to turn our planet into his next meal.

How Will Galactus Consume the Earth?

A striking moment in the trailer showcases what appears to be a massive, mysterious device located in Paris. This towering structure, composed of sweeping metallic arcs, emits a powerful beam of energy directed toward the sky. While it could easily be mistaken for one of Reed Richards’ scientific marvels, it’s far more likely tied to Galactus’ plan of destruction.

This looks to be one of several Elemental Converters—a crucial tool used by Galactus in the comics to process entire planets as sustenance. Despite his colossal size, Galactus isn’t quite large enough to swallow a planet whole. Instead, he uses these machines to deconstruct planetary matter and convert it into digestible energy, allowing him to feast without obliterating everything in one go.

While there's precedent for Galactus taking a more direct approach—think literally biting chunks out of planets—it’s far more efficient for him to use the Elemental Converter. The process ensures he can extract every last bit of nourishment from a world before moving on to the next.

Based on the footage, it seems clear that Galactus and the Silver Surfer deploy these converters across Earth to initiate the consumption process. If the Fantastic Four hope to prevent planetary annihilation, they’ll need to target these devices directly and sever Galactus’ means of feeding.

Whether they succeed or not remains to be seen. That uncertainty sets up a dramatic climax for *First Steps*—especially considering we’ve already seen the team escaping their universe in the post-credits scene of *The New Avengers*. Could that be a desperate flight from a destroyed Earth? It’s a bold narrative choice, but one that would make perfect sense given the stakes.
