Football Manager 2025 Cancelled: Sports Interactive Prioritizes Quality Over Release
Fans of the popular Football Manager series are disappointed by the news that Football Manager 2025 has been cancelled across all platforms, including its anticipated mobile release on Netflix Games. Sports Interactive, the developer, cited insufficient technical quality as the reason for the cancellation. The decision comes after multiple release date postponements.
The abrupt cancellation is frustrating for several reasons, not least the previous announcement of the Netflix Games mobile release, which would have likely attracted many new players. The lack of planned updates to Football Manager 24 further compounds the disappointment.
A Difficult Decision
While fan frustration is understandable, particularly given the late cancellation notice (the most recent projected release was March 2024), Sports Interactive's commitment to not releasing a subpar product is commendable. The focus now shifts to the development of Football Manager 26. The hope is that the next installment will deliver the high quality expected by fans and potentially return to the Netflix Games platform.
