Hyper Light Breaker Character Guide: Unlocking and Playstyles
Hyper Light Breaker offers diverse gameplay through its selection of Breakers. This guide details how to unlock new characters and provides an overview of their unique playstyles in the early access version. Note that this information is subject to change with future updates.
Unlocking New Characters:
To unlock new Breakers, you'll need Abyss Stones, obtained by defeating Crowns (bosses). Access boss arenas requires Prisms, identifiable by golden diamond icons on the map. After defeating a Crown, return to the Cursed Outpost's teleporter and select the Breaker you wish to unlock using your accumulated Abyss Stones. Currently, only two characters are unlockable via this method; future unlock methods may differ.
All Characters and SyComs:
Each Breaker starts with a SyCom, defining their base stats and core perk, significantly impacting their playstyle.
Vermillion
- Default SyCom: Gunslinger: Focuses on ranged combat, with critical hits granting a follow-up guaranteed crit.
- Unlockable SyCom: Tank: Emphasizes melee combat and defense; perfect parries increase armor. Offers superior defensive and melee stats compared to Gunslinger.
Lapis
- Default SyCom: Lightweaver: Enhances Rail shot damage after collecting a Battery.
- Unlockable SyCom: Warrior: Boosts core stats with each upgrade, making her increasingly powerful throughout the game.
Goro
- Default SyCom: Astrologer: Accelerates Blade skill charge while firing at targets.
- Unlockable SyCom: Sniper: Directly increases critical hit rate. A high-damage, high-risk ranged character.
