An important note: while *Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2* is available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, the public test server is exclusively accessible to PC players. Fortunately, accessing the server through Steam is straightforward.
PC players should navigate to their Steam library and search for *Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2*. The public test server will appear just below the main game as a separate entry. However, this option is only visible to those who have purchased *Space Marine 2* on Steam. Once located, players need to download and install the test server, which operates as a standalone build separate from the main game.
What Is Included with the Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 Public Test Server
The *Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2* public test server offers new content for both PvE and PvP modes, including fresh and modified weapons and customization options. The bulk of the new additions are focused on PvE, featuring a new map, relaxed class restrictions on weapons, and changes to online gameplay features. Keep in mind, the content, especially the PvE additions, is still in development and subject to significant changes before the official release.
Regarding online gameplay, the public test server includes improved matchmaking for both PvE and PvP modes, focusing on better team balancing. The PvE system aims to minimize instances where players of the same class are grouped on one team and introduces its own prestige leveling system. Meanwhile, PvP mode offers enhanced lobby customization to enrich the multiplayer experience.
For PC players with mods installed for *Space Marine 2*, these mods will not work in the public test server. Additionally, while players can create and customize content using the assets available on the test server, such content won't be saved to the main game due to the server being a separate build. There's no official confirmation on whether progression or content from the test server will transfer to the main game, though it's generally not expected.
